A FAMILY DAY IN CAPE TOWN

 Boulders05_800_534_80

Cape Town is the ideal destination for families. There is plenty to do!

In the morning, if the weather is good, head for your favourite beach. Go to Boulders Beach, swim, have a picnic and afterwards visit the penguin breeding area. Try the tidal pools at St James beach or swim and body board at Muizenberg beach.

Take a trip to the Winelands and enjoy a day of wine tasting and cellar tours. The various wine estates offer spectacular views and wide open lawns for the kids to run around. There is a wooden castle, outdoor chess, the best car collection, an antique carriage museum that offers carriage rides, or enjoy a picnic along the Eerste Rivier.

Take a boat ride in the harbour or visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and find a spot to relax on the lawns while the kids spot guinea fowl, climb trees and splash in the streams.

If it’s not beach weather, enjoy the Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront. Check the predator feeding times. Across the road is the Scratch Patch where the kids can fill buckets with semi-precious stones and minerals. Older children will enjoy stargazing at the Iziko Planetarium.

Eat at a child-friendly restaurant in the V&A Waterfront or along the Camps Bay promenade while watching the beautiful sunset.
