This long coastline offers numerous white, palm-lined beaches and seaside resorts on the shores of the bluest Indian Ocean.
If you stop near Kizimkazi on the South Coast, you can view or even play and swim alongside dolphins, the main attraction is this area. Also see Jozani Forest with its Red Colobus monkeys, the “cursed” Miza Miza cave and the fishing villages of Kizimkazi and Jambiani.
Getting to the East Coast is simple. The fishing villages of Paje and Bwejuu offer the best beaches and are both conveniently situated about 50km from Stone Town. Beautiful secluded and peaceful white beaches to relax and dream!
Getting to the North Coast is easy too and Nungwi is just 59km from Stone Town. The beach is busier but is beautiful and the turquoise waters stretch for miles. Spectacular sunsets, great seafood restaurants and the nightlife are among the best on the island of Zanzibar. If its peace and quiet you want, head south to Kwendwa and enjoy unspoilt beaches and the most beautiful surroundings.
Stone Town is the capital and is rather cosmopolitan with its cobbled chaotic streets, vibrant markets and loads of history and culture. Accommodation is offered in hidden alleys or at luxurious beachfront hotels. Worth a visit!
