8 – Day Family holiday from Cape Town, along the Whale and Garden Routes to a malaria-free, child friendly game lodge offering Big 5 game viewing, in the Eastern Cape
Day – 1
The Whale route includes various bays along the Garden Route where you can view the endangered Southern Right and Humpback Whales. Spend your first night in a rustic setting 12 kms from Hermanus. The family rooms are near enough to the restaurant to use a monitor. They have a kiddies play area, kiddies menus, high chairs, camp cots. The nearby cheese factory has a petting zoo and a play area.
Day – 2
Drive on towards Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Nature’s Valley along the coastal route and spend two nights in this fantastic seaside location exploring the Knysna Heads, Tsitsikiamma Forest, Knysna Lagoon, Monkeyland (monkey safaris) the Elephant Sanctuary, Birds of Eden and the Snake Park. Stay in comfort in Nature’s Valley (19 kms from Plettenberg Bay) where children under 12 years of age stay free. There is a playroom, childs menu, babysitting, imaginative activities, trails, mountain bikes, quad bikes, horse riding, picnics, tennis.
Day – 4
A short drive takes you to Port Elizabeth where many of the reserves are situated. Spend 3 nights at a 5-star lodge that offers child minding, a playroom with activities, plus a kiddies menu. On arrival you will meet the children’s co-ordinator to discuss activity options to suit your children. They will visit Bornfree rescue centre and the animal rehab centre. Children younger that 4 years of age are not allowed to join the game drives but child-minders are there to keep these small children happy with indoor or outdoor activities.
Day – 8
Proceed to Port Elizabeth Airport where you can drop off your hired car and connect to your homeward flight via Cape Town or Johannesburg.
